Aims and objectives of ESPA Research
Our aim is to expand and build upon the work previously carried out under the auspice of the Autism Research Unit for public benefit. We do not seek to "cure" autism but rather for those who require and wish it, to recognise & improve quality of life for people with autism spectrum conditions.

Future directions
We have implemented an ambitious 3-year plan of research based on the adoption of new methods & technology for the analytical work we undertake. In February 2010 we took delivery of an Agilent 6500 series QTOF Mass Spectrometer. In April 2010 the group results of our 2-year "ScanBrit" trial of the gluten- and casein-free diet were published. The next step is to determine whether through behavioural or biological markers we are able to identify best or non-responders to dietary intervention using the QTOF MS system.
