Last updated: 19 July 2010
As part of our remit on the public dissemination of any outcomes from our various research investigations, ESPA Research is holding a one-day conference titled:
"Diet intervention in autism spectrum conditions"
The conference will be held at the Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens on Wednesday 6th October 2010.
The aims of the conference surround the use of various dietary and nutritional strategies being used to either affect development outcome in autism spectrum conditions or improve quality of life. The topics to be discussed reflect the growing body of research that suggests food and diet may not only affect physical health but could also impact on mental health and well-being.
Presentations will include:
- New evidence on the use of gluten- and casein-free diets for ASC (the ScanBrit trial)
- Technological advances in biological research in ASC
- Practical advice on dietetic and nutritional management of ASC.
Places at the conference are limited (100) and will work on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets cost £25 for people with autism or parents of people with autism and £40 for all others.
The conference is aimed at many people involved in autism including: people with autism, their parents and family, dietitians, nutritionists, physicians, speech & language therapists, policy makers, etc. Conference details and a booking form are provided below.
